As Trump Pivots, Dems Plot a Comeback
Rep. Keith Ellison To Announce 'Real Soon' If He'll Run For DNC Chair
Ellison of Minnesota, a leading member of the Democratic Party's progressive wing, said on ABC News' "This Week" that the next chair of the Democratic National Committee needs to have "vision" and the ability to mobilize party members at the grassroots level. Democratic politicians need to be talking to "guys in the barber shop, the lady in the diner, the folks worrying whether or not the plant is going to close. They should be our focus," Ellison said. Democrats "need to put the voters first, not the donors first." ABC's MARIAM KHAN reports: http://abcn.ws/2f5BHNn
Giuliani Advises Trump To Put His Businesses In Blind Trust 'For Good Of The Country'
Giuliani's remarks came as many observers note that the president-elect's business empire -- comprised of more than 500 companies around the globe, including more than 250 bearing his name -- make him potentially susceptible to significant conflicts of interest. "For the good of the country, and the fact you don't want a question coming up every time there's a decision made, he should basically take himself out of it, and just be a passive participant in the sense that he has no decision-making, no involvement," Giuliani said. New Poll: 74% Call Election Legitimate, But With Vast Partisan Divide
Nearly three-quarters of Americans in a new ABC News/Washington Post poll accept Donald Trump's election as legitimate -- but with a vast gap between his supporters and others that underscores the nation's continued deep political divisions. Seventy-four percent in the national survey say Trump was legitimately elected, including 99 percent of his own supporters. Among others, much smaller majorities agree: Fifty-eight percent of Hillary Clinton's supporters and 62 percent of those who didn't support either candidate. Nigel Farage On Trump Meeting: 'He Was Relaxed And Full Of Ideas'
President-elect Donald Trump met with Nigel Farage, the head of the UK Independence Party and leader of the Brexit movement, at Trump Tower in midtown Manhattan Saturday afternoon. Farage posted a series of tweets about their meeting, including a photo of the two men smiling ear-to-ear amidst the gold detailing of Trump Tower. Clinton 'Heartbroken' Over Election, Says FBI Letter Was Turning Point
Hillary Clinton told her top donors in a call today that she is "heartbroken" by the election outcome and she pointed to FBI Director James Comey's letter to Congress about a review of newly-found emails as a turning point in the contest between her and Republican Donald Trump. Clinton's call with her top donors was not open to the press, but a source told ABC News that the tone was somber, with Clinton thanking those on the call and referring to the election results as a "very tough loss." Kellyanne Conway Says Trump Chief Of Staff Announcement Is 'Imminent'
Donald Trump's campaign manager Kellyanne Conway has said that the appointment of a White House chief of staff is "imminent," ABC's ALEXANDER MALLIN and TARA FOWLER report. Speaking briefly with reporters in the lobby of Trump Tower today, Conway said there are "several people being considered and it's Mr. Trump's decision ultimately." She added that Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus has expressed interest in the position. http://abcn.ws/2fuyRSH
