OnPolitics Today: I wanna hold your hand
President Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron

It's a rainy Tuesday in Washington, which means we have more time than usual to contemplate what it means to hold someone's hand. What if you want to show them around? What if your ongoing grip is merely a way for you to connect? And what if someone just doesn't want to?

Deep questions over here at OP, folks. Subscribe and let's get down to business.

Macron marches on

Tuesday marked day 2 of French President Emmanuel Macron time in Washington. It was a busy day for the world leader as he worked to convince President Trump to stick with the Iran nuclear deal, protect the environment and exempt European countries from tariffs.

"It's not a mystery we did not have the same starting positions or stances, and neither you nor I have a habit of changing our stances or going with the wind," Macron told Trump during a press conference in the East Room.

But despite their differences, at least Macron knows that Trump think's he's perfect.

Next up: Tuesday night's state dinner.

As does Ronny Jackson

Compare all that to someone who isn't have a good day at all: presidential doctor Ronny Jackson. The Navy rear admiral has been nominated by Trump to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs. But after "serious allegations" surfaced about his service as both a naval and a White House physician, the Senate delayed his confirmation hearing.

So, does that mean Trump is reconsidering?

Not exactly. Trump stood behind his nominee - but said he'd leave it up to Jackson about whether to continue.

"I told Adm. Jackson just a little while ago, I said, 'What do you need this for?' This is a vicious group of people," the president said. "He's an admiral, he's a great leader. And they question him about every little thing."
