I highly doubt anyone will disagree we all work for our
governments in a matter of speaking. They set the bar on what the lowest
paid employees shall earn, and how much taxes are taken off workers pay
checks. The idea of living in our first world country means, even the
lowest paid minimum wage employees can survive on their paychecks. In
order to do so two factors need to be in place, the first being minimum
wage matching inflation, and deductions at source need to leave people
with enough to pay their bills. Unfortunately in Canada for most
Canadians that is not the case, hence why the average family is $100,000
in debt. So what exactly have our politicians done for us lately
improving our economy?
Our new Prime Minister has given a lot of lip service on assisting working people to be better financially off. The interesting part is even though our country is in a huge deficit, the dollar is low, unemployment is high, he still helped himself and 338 other politicians to a $6,000/ year raise. All on the backs of tax paying Canadians, who don't earn like many of his politicians $170,000/year to begin. If this was a large corporation do you not think investors would believe their new C.E.O is fiscally responsible?
Personally I like this Prime Minister compared to the last one, he is more charismatic, better liked on the world stage, and it also helps his dearly departed Father was a respected Prime Minister for many terms. He is young, idealistic, charming, but I don't think this man is in touch with the realities of our countries state of affairs. Bringing in 25,000 immigrants on a humanity way is very kind, but a country is like a business meaning this is not in our budgets. Unfortunately these people need housing, clothing, education, and jobs. It's hard enough for people here to find a job, how will these immigrants be able to work actually supporting themselves? I believe many of them will end-up on our social system, where those born here will have more financial strain, higher personal and consumer taxes, less medical resources in hospitals etc...
We have so many students wanting a higher education, who can't afford their studies, and he is granting many of these new immigrants free post-secondary education. I think before taking a raise, bringing in people we can't afford, charity begins at home! I really hope this new leader with a kind heart has figured-out a way to extend that generosity to the citizen living here. Right now I have to say our politicians have increased on national debts further, with no job generation for Canadians.
