Break out your best pantsuit and clean out your inbox -- it's Hillary Day! Clinton takes the stage in prime time tonight at the DNC; here's what she needs to accomplish in her speech. Will she be able to win over voters and claim a bounce in the polls she desperately needs?  We know we'll be watching, and our second screen will be devoted to @realDonaldTrump's running commentary.

Obama: 'Chant with me: Likable enough! Likable enough!'

Less than 24 hours after Hillary Clinton symbolically smashed his face into tiny pieces, President Obama took the stage at the Democratic National Convention to praise Clinton's credentials. "There has never been a man or a woman more qualified than Hillary Clinton to serve as president of the United States of America. No one. Not me, not Bill, not nobody," he said.

Obama's speech was intended to be a surgical strike against the major criticisms of Clinton, including her decision-making as secretary of State and her difficulty connecting with white male blue-collar workers. "There are pockets of America that never recovered from factory closures; men who took pride in hard work and providing for their families who now feel forgotten." Meanwhile, Joe Biden was standing backstage thinking, "Chill out, everyone, I got this " and secretly hoping he'll have the opportunity to stage-dive into a crowd of Pennsylvania steelworkers.

Kaine vs. Pence = warm milk and an overstuffed chair

Anyone else looking forward to the Kaine-Pence vice presidential debates? It's gonna be as exciting as a TED Talk about oatmeal preparation. The Democratic National Convention officially added Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine to the 2016 ticket yesterday and  made him the opening act for Obama. Kaine went after Hillary's trustworthiness issues in his speech, attempting to turn focus to Trump's own trustworthiness: "With Hillary, it's not just words, it's accomplishments," Kaine said. "You know who I don't trust? Donald Trump. The guy promises a lot ... His creditors, his contractors, his laid-off employees, his ripped-off students did just that, and they all got hurt. Folks, you cannot believe one word that comes out of Donald Trump's mouth."

We're going to give him an A-minus for effort on the Trump imitation, and we'll give him the chance to do make-up work on the actual execution. Wait, never mind ... don't try that again.

Peace in our time! Just terrific peace. People are gonna be amazed at how peaceful it is

All the Trump-haters out there saying Donald would be the next Hitler: stop being so melodramatic! Clearly, he's more of a Neville Chamberlain. At a press conference yesterday in Miami, Trump said he'd look at the possibility of allowing Russia to keep the Crimean Peninsula  and lifting sanctions imposed as a result of Russia's military intervention in Ukraine. The current custodian of Ronald Reagan's party also mockingly asked for a rival nation's assistance with his general election campaign: "Russia, if you're listening, I hope you're able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing," Trump said. We really hope the sarcasm translates correctly; otherwise, things are about to get espionage-y over here.

"I was appalled. I mean we've heard a lot of things from Donald Trump over the last year and a half," DNC interim chair Donna Brazile told USA TODAY's Susan Paige, "but to suggest that a foreign power hack into the email system of a national political party -- one of two major political parties -- that was so far over the line that I believe that the statement should be condemned."

"This has to be the first time that a major presidential candidate has actively encouraged a foreign power to conduct espionage against his political opponent," said Clinton adviser Jake Sullivan. (Ted Kennedy did come pretty close in 1983, but with infomercials instead of espionage.)

American politics is officially out of ideas

Bernie Sanders supporters are holding a "fart-in" today to protest Hillary Clinton's nomination. The need to cover this type of event is why we have media interns.
