| | | with Jessica Estepa | Happy Tuesday, OnPolitics friends. While contemplating President Trump's return to the United States, we couldn't help but think about a song by one Marshall Mathers aka Eminem: | Now this looks like a job for me So everybody just follow me 'Cause we need a little controversy 'Cause it feels so empty without me | And with that, we present you with today's edition of OP. Subscribe here and let's go. | Trump is back... | President Trump made his triumphant return to America and to Twitter over the weekend. (Yes, we know he tweeted while he was abroad, but it wasn't to the level we've come to expect.) Below, we offer his Sunday morning tweets with some annotations (all times are in ET): | 8:02 a.m.: Big win in Montana for Republicans! [Cheering for the win of Republican candidate Greg Gianforte in Montana's special election] | 8:10 a.m.: Just returned from Europe. Trip was a great success for America. Hard work but big results! [Nine days of meeting other world leaders IS hard work] | 8:33 a.m.: It is my opinion that many of the leaks coming out of the White House are fabricated lies made up by the #FakeNews media. [Things were going so well.] | 8:34 a.m.: Whenever you see the words 'sources say' in the fake news media, and they don't mention names.... [Wait for it...] | 8:45 a.m.: ....it is very possible that those sources don't exist but are made up by fake news writers. #FakeNews is the enemy! [There it is. Why there is a 9-minute lag time, we can only guess.] | 8:45 a.m.: Does anyone notice how the Montana Congressional race was such a big deal to Dems & Fake News until the Republican won? V was poorly covered [We think it's kind of normal for some coverage to drop off once a campaign ends, but hey, that is just us. Also, note the lack of any lag time between previous tweet.] | 10:43 a.m.: British Prime Minister May was very angry that the info the U.K. gave to U.S. about Manchester was leaked. Gave me full details! [Not really related, but probably worth noting anyway] | A few other Trump-specific things: Our allies don't seem to be big fans of the president. He spent Memorial Day honoring Gold Star families. His handshake with France's Emmanuel Macron was "not innocent," according to the French leader. And while he disavowed the use of anonymous sources, on Tuesday, he retweeted a story that cites a single anonymous source. | ...But his communications director is not | White House communications director Mike Dubke is out. While he handed in his resignation on May 18, he offered to stay through the president's foreign trip. Dubke - who was on the job for three whole months, didn't work on the campaign and didn't know Trump before he took the job - said serving the president and the administration was a "great honor." Of course, we can't help but wonder if this really is for "personal" reasons, as he said to friends in a message, or if it's the beginning of a shakeup for the entire White House staff, something Trump reportedly wants. | And that whole FBI director thing is still up in the air | Trump on Tuesday interviewed two more people to fill the top spot at the FBI: former deputy FBI director John Pistole and former assistant general Chris Wray. Both have plenty of experience that would qualify them for the job. Pistole served as deputy director under Robert Mueller, the man now at the helm of the Justice Department's Russia investigation. Wray was assistant attorney general during George W. Bush's administration and former chief of Justice's criminal division. In case you want to keep track, here's who *won't* be the next FBI director. | Elsewhere in politics land | | | MOST SHARED STORIES FROM USA TODAY | | | | | | | FOLLOW US
