So let's just get to it. | | Michael Flynn watch | | In a not-really-all-that-surprising move, former national security adviser Michael Flynn won't testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee , invoking his Fifth Amendment rights. (Reminder: This is the guy who spoke with Russian officials before President Trump's inauguration, lied about it and resigned after all was revealed.) Per the letter his lawyers sent to lawmakers: "The context in which the Committee has called for General Flynn's testimonial production of documents makes clear that he has more than a reasonable apprehension that any testimony he provides could be used against him." This is a reasonable conclusion, given that hours later, *another* letter was released by Rep. Elijah Cummings, the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee. In THAT letter, Cummings says that they have documents showing Flynn may have lied to investigators during his security clearance renewal. | | Where in the world is Donald Trump | | Answer: Currently in Israel. Trump is three days into his first foreign trip as president, and it's going pretty well so far (well, besides maybe this one moment with Melania). In Saudi Arabia, he enjoyed a warm reception (we're going to guess this is because they reportedly made sure he could eat his steak and ketchup), made a speech condemning 'Islamic extremism' and pledged loyalt to The Orb. In Israel, where he will try to show everyone the art of the deal, he became the first sitting president to pray at Jerusalem's Western Wall and said he most definitely did not tell the Russians about, well, Israel. Next up: Rome and the Vatican. Stay tuned. | | Money, money, money, money, money | | Happening on the domestic front: Trump's budget is out Tuesday. But wait, wasn't the budget released in March? No, no, that was the skinny budget. This is the full version, the mother of all budgets, and there's plenty to look out for, from whether the president will keep his promise not to cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, to whether the president can realistically balance the budget. USA TODAY's Maureen Groppe breaks it down. But don't forget: Congress is probably not going to pass this. | | Elsewhere in politics land | | | | | MOST SHARED STORIES FROM USA TODAY | | | | | | | | | | | | | FOLLOW US
