OnPolitics Today: Get ready to Wolff up that book

Happy Thursday, OnPolitics friends. In case you were eagerly awaiting the release of Michael Wolff's book about the Trump White House, fear not: His publisher pushed up the release date to Friday.

'Fire and Fury' by Michael Wolff

Keep up with the latest on all things book- and non-book-related, get your friends to subscribe and let's do this.

Cease and desist? Nah

Regardless of what Michael Wolff says about the access he received for his book, President Trump is not happy about the book's publication. How do we know? Well, his personal lawyer sent a cease-and-desist letter to Wolff and his publisher, saying that Fire and Fury : Inside the Trump White House was defamatory and libelous. Thus, Trump's attorney argued, it should not be published or distributed.

The publisher did get the letter - and they're going to publish it anyway.

"Henry Holt confirms that we received a cease and desist letter from an attorney for President Trump," the company said in a statement. "We see Fire and Fury as an extraordinary contribution to our national discourse, and are proceeding with the publication of the book."

And you'll be able to grab your copies first thing Friday morning, four days sooner than expected.

We have questions about this marijuana memo

The legal marijuana industry is thriving, but a new announcement from the Justice Department on Thursday leaves it with an uncertain future.

DOJ announced that it was rescinding Obama administration policies not to interfere with state laws allowing people to use pot for medical and recreational uses, something that Attorney General Jeff Sessions described as returning to the rule of law.

But federal officials could not answer whether people selling or using marijuana in states where it's legal would now be more at risk of prosecution.
