President Trump and Senator Dick Durbin, left, listen

The ongoing drama over Trump's words and a looming government shutdown. It's all in a day's work in OP, really.

Keep up with the latest, subscribe here and let's do this.

No one else was in...

So, what DID President Trump say when he was meeting with lawmakers about immigration last week? Depends on who you ask. Trump says no, he did not utter "shithole" while describing certain countries. Sens. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., who were present, say he most definitely did say it. Sens. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., and David Perdue, R-Ga., who were also present, aren't quite sure about what was said. And Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen couldn't recall.

We may never what happened. Regardless, Trump wanted to make one thing clear about immigrants on Tuesday: "I want them to come in from everywhere. Everywhere."

As long as they come through the merit-based system he has been pushing for.

Also: Some Yelp reviewers are throwing Trump's alleged words back at him...or his properties, at least.

SHUTDOWN CLOCK

Mark your calendars, federal workers and anyone who uses federal government services: Funding for the government runs out at midnight on Friday.

At this point, congressional leaders are just trying to keep that from happening. There are a lot of issues on their plate - the fates of undocumented people who were brought into the country as children, spending caps, disaster aid and the long-term future of the popular Children's Health Insurance Program. So lawmakers might punt again, something they've done over and over again in recent months.

But what would happen if Congress can't get even get a short-term bill through? We break it down for you.
