Pope Francis summons presidents of every bishops conference for February meeting on preventing clergy sex abuse

The Catholic Church has been struggling with sex abuse by its clergy for decades. An investigation in the United States earlier this year found rampant sexual abuse of more than 1,000 children in Pennsylvania. Recently, Francis' papacy has been jolted by accusations he rehabilitated a top American cardinal who had been sanctioned for molesting and harassing adult seminarians.
