Deny, deny, deny |
Remember when President Donald Trump sparked a massive controversy by appearing to accept Russian President Vladimir Putin's denials of meddling in the 2016 election? Now, he is drawing criticism for appearing to buy King Salman's denial that Saudia Arabia was involved in the disappearance of dissident journalist and U.S. resident, Jamal Khashoggi. Although Turkish officials claim to have audio and evidence that Khashoggi was killed inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, the Saudis have claimed he left the compound unharmed. Trump suggested "rogue killers" may have been behind Khashoggi's disappearance. "Who knows?" the president said, underscoring his uncertainty. |

"apropos of nothing, this is one of the all-time great tweets of this era," The Atlantic's McKay Coppins reminds us. The tweet in question? Jesse Farar's 2016 assertion: "Well, I'd like to see ol Donny Trump wriggle his way out of THIS jam! *Trump wriggles his way out of the jam easily* Ah! Well. Nevertheless." |
At least 1/1024th Native American and proud |
Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., says Trump owes her favorite charity $1 million . In July, the president imagined offering Warren $1 million if she took a DNA test proving that she is "an Indian" during a hypothetical debate with the potential Democratic 2020 presidential candidate. On Monday, Warren released the results of a DNA analysis that found "strong evidence" that the senator has Native American ancestry, although those roots could go back as far as 10 generations. |
