Federal judge rules that the Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate is unconstitutional, imperiling President Barack Obama’s signature legislative achievement

U.S. District Judge Reed O'Connor, a George W. Bush appointee in Texas, declared the individual mandate portion of the law unconstitutional and, therefore, the remaining provisions of the law are "inseverable" and "invalid".
