Sleepy Joe or Sleepy Don? Trump appears to doze

Video clips of Trump's Cabinet meeting are making the rounds, and not for reasons the administration would likely prefer. The president, 79, is seen on video closing his eyes several times during the high-level meeting , appearing to doze off briefly and fight sleep. It holds some irony, after Trump frequently called his predecessor, former President Joe Biden, "Sleepy Joe" following similar instances. Biden was 82 when he left office, and his health was often questioned by Trump and leading Republicans. The White House told USA TODAY that Trump was "listening attentively" during the meeting.

Trump's immigration crackdown heads to New Orleans

The administration's controversial and legally embattled immigration crackdown on Democratic-led cities continues to expand, this time with federal agents making their way to New Orleans. The mission, dubbed Operation Catahoula Crunch , will target "criminal illegal aliens," according to the Department of Homeland Security. Officials have not said how many agents will be sent to New Orleans or how long the operation will last. Similar operations have hit Los Angeles, Chicago, DC and Charlotte, but data from some of those crackdowns have shown many of the people detained have no criminal history.

Trump pardons embattled Texas Congressman

Trump has pardoned dozens of people in 2025, and this week that number continues to tick up. This time, it's an embattled Democratic lawmaker from Texas benefiting. Congressman Henry Cuellar, considered among the most conservative Democrats in the U.S. House, is to be pre-emptively pardoned. He is awaiting trial on a federal indictment over charges he took $600,000 in foreign bribes. Cuellar won an 11th term in November 2024 despite the charges and surrounding controversy.
