Is there a definitive best car ever? |
This week Detroit Free Press senior car culture reporter Eric D. Lawrence posed a tough question to readers. What is the best car ever? Eric asked a number of car experts including a curator of Transportation at The Henry Ford, an automotive historian and a Hollywood stunt driver the same question.

Unsurprisingly, the survey of experts was inconclusive. Eric and I test drive some of the newest and most impressive cars and our answers will differ as well.

As for me, the car that comes to mind when I ponder the question is the Honda Civic. Honda's small and affordable sedan has survived a half-century despite a rapidly changing automotive landscape.

It works as a cheap daily driver, a tuner for driving enthusiasts and it's consistently one of the best-selling sedans. Now that Honda offers a hybrid version of the Civic , it's even more appealing to a wider range of drivers.

There may not be a definitive best car ever made, but I think the Civic makes a strong case for itself.
