King, 44, was executed Wednesday by lethal injection and pronounced dead shortly after 7 p.m. local time Wednesday in a Hunstville, Texas prison. King and two other white men were convicted of murdering James Byrd, Jr. in the early morning hours of June 7, 1998 in Jasper.
