Another week in review and another horrible terrorist attack to reflect on. On Thursday, a truck plowed through a crowd in Nice, France. More than 80 people were killed and hundreds more were injured - including an American father and son. Our hearts are broken, again. (Not to mention the military coup going on in Turkey as we write this.) Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton actually agreed on something: The U.S. is now at war. But the the attacks also raise questions within the United States, including at the political conventions - should we be worried?

Convention security

More than 3,000 federal security officials are headed to the GOP convention next week and then the Democratic convention the following week, and there will be thousands of state and local officials on patrol as well. But the good news is there are no specific threats to the events, and law enforcement officials are already on high alert and taking extra precautions since the attack last week in Dallas that killed 5 police officers.

This is our last Saturday newsletter until August. We'll be all-conventions-all-the-time starting Monday. Sign up to get For The Record in your inbox every morning for your infusion of all things conventions. I'll be the lady-on-the-ground in both Cleveland and Philadelphia, so follow me on Twitter for all the details as they happen:  @elizacollins1.

Trump's got a friend

Trump and Mike Pence joined forces (quite literally, if you saw their logo and you have a dirty mind). Trump unveiled the pairing-up via Twitter, which a spokesman from the site confirmed was the first time a vice presidential pick was ever announced that way.

Trump had announced plans earlier in the week to make a formal announcement Friday, but there were some leaks and the news sort of came out on Thursday . Then Trump postponed Friday's press conference following the attack in France. That raised some questions for Pence, who was facing a deadline of noon on Friday to decide whether he was going to file for re-election as governor. The tweet cleared up any questions about that, and now the big news conference is set for Saturday.

Many conservatives are thrilled about the choice, and it could have earned Trump some new supporters - like anti-abortion group Susan B. Anthony List, which raved about him. On the other side: Democrats and pro-abortion-rights groups went crazy over Pence's record.

Bernie and Hillary had a damn team-up

There was another union made this week as well. After a particularly bitter primary season, the Vermont senator finally decided Clinton had made enough concessions and decided that he would endorse her. The endorsement followed her touting out various progressive proposals in recent weeks, including free college tuition for families making less than $125,000 a year.

"She will be the Democratic nominee for president, and I intend to do everything I can to make certain she will be the next president of the United States," he said at a joint rally in New Hampshire. For her part, the former secretary of State said the campaign was a lot more fun now that they are on the same side.

Later in the week, he told USA TODAY he was still a candidate but just so he could see his name in bright lights at the convention. (More than 1,900 delegates will cast votes for him during roll call.)

Trump gets a green tea cleanse

A tea company in India is getting involved the presidential election. TE-A-ME TEAS delivered four years' worth of tea to Trump Tower with a message: "Mr. Trump, it's never too late to cleanse yourself."

"TE-A-ME understands the positive power of green tea. We believe that green tea with all its goodness can help Mr. Trump, and in turn benefit his country and the world at large," Sumit Shah, managing director of TE-A-ME Teas, said in a statement. "We therefore prescribe at least three cups a day for Mr. Trump. If he needs more, we'll be happy to provide!"
