That to-do list of Trump's -- the one where he nominates people to things -- grew by one on Tuesday evening. President Trump fired FBI Director James Comey as the FBI investigates possible ties between the Russian government and Trump campaign staff. Whew! That's another ex-official who can never bother Trump again,  just like Sally Yates and Mike Flynn.

This is the thanks he gets?

James Comey is the reason Donald Trump is in the Oval Office, according to FiveThirtyEight. Now, Trump's the reason Comey's out of a job.

Comey, who had served as director of the FBI since 2013, was ousted Tuesday evening after the FBI confirmed Comey had provided inaccurate testimony  to a Senate panel regarding Huma Abedin's handling of classified information. Comey had said Abedin, a Hillary Clinton aide, had made a "regular practice" of forwarding emails to be printed off the laptop belonging to her husband, former New York Rep. Anthony Weiner. The emails indeed were on Weiner's laptop, but mainly because of automatic backups from Abedin's electronic devices.

"The FBI is one of our nation's most cherished and respected institutions and today will mark a new beginning for our crown jewel of law enforcement," Trump said in a statement.

'The future is yours! Seize it with your tiny, tiny hands.'

University campuses -- the All Spark of safe spaces -- are politics-free zones during campus commencements this spring. Very few of the commencement speakers contacted by USA TODAY said they planned to mention President Trump or politics in general during their speeches.

What's behind the lack of political talk? Former astronaut Kathryn Thornton says if Virginia's Sweet Briar College wanted politics, they would have invited a politician. "Since they didn't, I'll take that as a direction."

Anthony Esolen, an English literature scholar speaking at Michigan's Hillsdale College, believes commencement speeches aren't intended to capture the mood of the moment: "Leave the shifting sand dunes of the day far behind.''

On the other hand, we might just be all out of original hot takes. "We already have enough people trying to label him, like Meryl Streep at the Golden Globes,'' said Cristina Negrut, founder of graduationwisdom.com"Another label - 'liar' or something -- is not helpful.''

And if you're looking for a safe space ...

... elective office is not the thing for you. Iowa Congressman Rod Blum learned that the hard way when TV reporter Josh Scheinblum asked why Blum required attendees to show their IDs during a town hall tour.

"That'd be like saying, 'Shouldn't I be able to, even though I live in Dubuque, go vote in Iowa City during the election?'" the congressman argued.

"Would you still take donations from a Republican in Iowa City?" Scheinblum asked, prompting Blum to storm out of the interview. Blum later told the Washington Post, "It was very apparent that he had an agenda," he said. "It's my right to say that this interview is over."
