Ex-NFL player Rae Carruth released after nearly 19 years in prison for murder plot of pregnant girlfriend

  Carruth, a former Carolina Panthers wide receiver, hired a hitman in 1999 to murder his pregnant girlfriend, Cherica Adams, who later died from the shooting. The baby, Chancellor Lee Adams, was born premature and suffers from cerebral palsy. The hitman testified Carruth wanted the baby dead so he wouldn't have to pay child support.
