OnPolitics: Tuesday impeachment inquiry news
So. Much. News. Here's what you need to know.

In one short week since the impeachment inquiry launched, America's changed its tune on the president, lawyers are lawyering up and Trump is still trying to figure out the whistleblower's identity. Let's dive into the impeachment inquiry news you need to know today, OnPolitics readers.

America seems to be changing its tune on impeachment...

1. The number of Americans who think President Donald Trump should be impeached rose by eight percentage points in one week, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll. According to the poll, 45% say Trump should be impeached and 41% say he should not be impeached.

Last week was a totally different story: A week ago, 37% of all Americans thought Trump should be impeached and that 45% said he should not.
But as expected, it's complicated: 13% of GOP voters say Trump should be impeached and 81% say he should not.

Things seem far more red and blue than black and white...

2. A new Monmouth University poll found that only four in ten Republicans think Trump even mentioned Biden on the Ukraine call, although he has acknowledged doing so.

She's called Trump a "corrupt human tornado." Now Hillary Clinton has more to say...

3. This time about Mike Pompeo. During an appearance on CBS' "Late Show with Stephen Colbert" on Monday, the former Secretary of State took issue with current Secretary of State Pompeo's involvement in "the call."

"The Secretary of State's job is to make sure that he knows, number one, what the president is going to say on those calls," Clinton said. "These are usually highly prepared calls."

Pompeo made comments of his own today...

4. Pompeo blasted the House Democrats' impeachment inquiry and suggested he would fight their request to depose five State Department employees involved in the Ukraine controversy.

"I'm concerned with aspects of the committee's request that can be understood only as an attempt to intimidate, bully and treat improperly the distinguished professionals of the Department of State," Pompeo wrote in a letter to House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Eliot Engel.
Democrats have accused Pompeo of "stonewalling" the process and intimidating witnesses after his pushback on impeachment requests.

And in the Twitterverse, Trump's 'civil war' comment isn't going away...

5. Republican congressman and Air Force veteran Adam Kinzinger slammed Trump for suggesting that his impeachment could lead to a "Civil War," tweeting back: "I have visited nations ravaged by civil war... I have never imagined such a quote to be repeated by a President. This is beyond repugnant."
