Yes, the weekend brought both the naming of a Supreme Court nominee and a massive report on President Donald Trump's taxes. There was a lot going on. |
Sunday night, the New York Times published an investigation into the president's tax records, which showed the president "beset by hundreds of millions in personal debt that will come due within the next four years," USA TODAY's David Jackson wrote. |
It also showed a string of financial losses that helped Trump avoid paying taxes, and reported that Trump paid only $750 in federal income taxes in 2016 and 2017. He paid no income taxes in 10 of the previous 15 years, the Times reported. |
Trump denied the report Sunday evening. |
"Actually I paid the tax, and you'll see them as soon as my tax returns are done," Trump told reporters at the White House, noting he is under audit by the IRS. |
There's a lot to process, so we've highlighted some of the most interesting revelations in the tax records. |
The chances of this coming up in tomorrow night's debate between Trump and Democrat Joe Biden? Probably pretty high. |
Here's what else is going on: |
