If you haven't heard of it by now, here's your crash course on ChatGPT, the artificial intelligence dominating many conversations in the tech space. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Talking Tech

Thursday, February 9

Happy Thursday, Talking Tech readers. We're days away from Super Bowl Sunday. As a Commanders fan, it's difficult for me to root for any other NFC East team, so let's go Chiefs!

Now, on to your top stories in tech.

If you haven't heard of it by now, here's your crash course on ChatGPT, the artificial intelligence dominating many conversations in the tech space.

This week, Microsoft announced plans to integrate ChatGPT into its Bing search engine, providing a comprehensive summary of the results you search for along with links you would typically find on Bing's very large competitor, Google (you may have heard of it).

New to ChatGPT? Let's get you caught up.

What is ChatGPT? GPT stands for Generative Pre-trained Transformer, and it's a tool created by company OpenAI capable of answering text queries, almost like a search engine. The company said the tool is trained on a wide swath of information pulled from the web. It can even write stuff for you, if you ask.

Can I use ChatGPT? Sure. It's available for free on the OpenAI website once you register an account.

What's the downside to ChatGPT? It's not exactly accurate. Also, some educators are concerned the tool could be used by students to cheat. Some conservatives also say it's showing a liberal bias.

What about Google? Oh, they already have a competitor called Bard

What else happened in tech?

Twitter's technical meltdown. The social network's users couldn't tweet or send direct messages.

More tech layoffs. This time, it's Zoom cutting 1,300 employees.

Your Elon Musk update. The billionaire was cleared by a jury of wrongdoing tied to tweets about Tesla.

Thursday tech tip

It's February, which means winter, and chilly temperatures. Thankfully, we have tech to keep us warm. Check out these tech tools and apparel to help survive the cold weather.

One more thing

Chick-fil-A has a new sandwich. The twist is it doesn't feature chicken. The star of the sandwich is breaded cauliflower. So long as it tastes good with Chick-fil-A sauce, it's worth a shot.

Thanks for reading! See you next week.
